The Psychology of "I am Fine"

Two words we often say when we’re anything but.


In therapy, I’ve seen how powerful it is when someone finally replaces “I’m fine” with:


– “𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴.”

– “𝘐’𝘮 𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘪𝘵.”

– “𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘶𝘳𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦.”


If you’re used to hiding behind “I’m fine,” know this:

You're not alone. And you don’t have to carry it all silently. 💖
